film some footage of the road with you crossing and then without moving the camera record a car driving by.
place the layers on top of each other. keyframe a left or right crop on the layer with the car passing, then right when it's about to hit the person, take a freeze frame of the person and cut it out in GIMP or Photoshop. Then import the psd cutout and keyframe the man flying off the car.
I think that was a terrible tutorial. I don't know if it made any sense.

Do you have photoshop? If not, you can download an open source version called "Gimp" http://www.gimp.org/
